Desertmaws are common and rather tough enemies in the Scorching-Sands Zone. They commonly have around 60-70 health, and deal about 20 damage with their main attack, which is slashing at the player with their paws. They usually appear if the player wanders too far off the desert roads. Their attacks can slice through weak armor.

Background Edit

Desertmaws are among the original inhabitants of the Scorching-Sands Zone. They hunted various animals and anything else that wandered into their territory, and were seen as one of the strongest predators in the entire zone. They stayed away from the roads and the civilized centers, such as Older York, the Trading City, and the Desert Destroyer, attacking anyone who wandered away from those areas. After the Military began to use the Cyberformers to create Newer York, Desertmaws were hunted to near extinction, but due to some controversy over killing their entire species, the remaining Desertmaws were moved to zoos and nature reserves in Newer York.

Description Edit

Desertmaws appear to be bears, but with the head of a crocodile, and have the tail and back spikes of one as well. Their fur and bodies are brown.

Adventurer's Guide Entry Edit

"Desertmaws are animals native to the Scorching-Sands Zone. They stalk the paths of the desert, waiting to eat up anyone and anything that strays from it. Their bodies are tough, but do give way, but their claws deal some considerate damage to armor and bodies. They can run at high speeds, clocked in at the same speed as a dune buggy, but often miss their attacks by running too fast. The Desertmaws often guard their young far away from the paths, and hunt in groups of two, usually alongside their mates. They are more populous at night, and thus any adventurers wandering the sands at night must be cautious of the Desertmaws."
